About the event

A fun course of exploration and understanding. Our progress in sports injury, fascia and neurology has moved on immensely in the last 10 years. Sports 1 helps you to know the fundamentals of injury, how to grade them, rehab them and treat them successfully. It helps you to think outside of protocols and take the individual sport and person in to full account. Connecting the sports player to their body and to stabilise the injury to a full recovery. The full course outline is below.

Sports Injuries Level 1.

Complete with colour workbook and recording charts for clinic.

I like the way you move….

We love all movement and sports. Humans are primed to run, jump and turn, to play.

Sometimes connecting with another person, object, ground, or moving out of our natural physical space can create problems and potentially injury. It’s these injuries that need timelines to heal and hands on work to create the optimum outcome to commence activity again as soon as possible.

In two days’ we will cover the assessment, observation, physiology and treatment and how we can help prevent problems in the future. Your role in their recovery is key.

Knowing the cause and the “Why?” is our prime focus.

·  What are they protecting?

·  How are they compensating to gain the movement required?

·  Where are they unstable?

·  Where are they super stable and cannot open up the movement?

Common Actions

·  Lunge

·  To move from sitting to standing

·  To get off the floor easily

·  To throw a ball

·  To run

·  Sit up

·  Rotate

·  Balance

Sports 1 Day 1

It’s all happening at cell level. Our first dive will explain in a nutshell -

·  How the muscle spindle works

·  Fascia and it’s function.

·  The Kreb’s cycle and fatigue.

·  The mechanism of inflammation and how powerful it is in recovery.

·  Pairing muscle functions. Eg: Biceps& Triceps.

·  Understanding connectivity and the kinetic chains.

·  How to assess an injury functionally and give it a grading. 1-5.

We will introduce the top ten named injuries ( and how to treat the individual, rather than use protocols ). Each one will have a deep dive of 30 minutes each applied to the Bowen Technique.

1. Runner’s Knee  2. Shoulder Injury.  3. Achilles Tendinitis  4. Concussion

5. Ankle Sprain  6. Tennis Elbow  7. Hamstring Pulls  8. Groin Strain

9. Shin Splints  10. Lower Back Pain.

Day 2

Building the Picture.

We believe in “flow”. Exploring movement and witnessing where the “glitch” is helps us to gently guide the client towards a pain free and strong resolution and help them creatively explain their own story …aiding the navigation towards function and happiness.

·  Introduction to tensegrity and biomechanical models.

·  Case studies and videos exploring the map of movement.

With this in mind :

We will take you all through a movement screen to help “see and feel” the patterns. A great group activity that leads to practical and a re-assessment of the screening to embody changes from hands on work.

Learning and embodying the screen will develop the core of your assessment ability. Empowering you and your client.

The approach is engaging and fun, moving into treatment choices and patterns in further practicals and evolving you as a trusted therapist .

I look forward to sharing with you and upgrading your' clinic outcomes.
